Light Efficient Network Simulator (LENS) Software

Lens is an multiplatform, efficient and flexible, neural network simulator able to handle large, complex simulations. Details about the software can be found on the project website: http://tedlab.mit.edu/~dr/Lens/

LENS is installed on the cluster and is setup to use with PBS. When you PBS job is scheduled, it will automatically run the Lens clients on the machines that PBS assigns to you.

Environment Setup

You will need to setup a few environment variables before Lens will run. Depending on which shell program (bash or tcsh) you use, setting environment variables can be done with one of the following:

bash: export <Variable=<Value>
tcsh: setenv <Variable> <Value>

The below example is what you would like to add to the .bashrc file in your home directory, if you are using the bash shell.

export HOSTTYPE=x86_64
export LENSDIR=/data2/plautlab/Lens
export PATH=$PATH:$LENSDIR/Bin/$HOSTTYPE
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$LD_LIBRARY_PATH:$LENSDIR/Bin/${HOSTTYPE}
